Alert: Security Drills Scheduled For Wednesday

On Wednesday, November 9th, Sto-Rox School District will hold a security drill in each of its three school buildings. These drills are required by Pennsylvania code to take place within 90 days of the start of the school year, in lieu of a required fire drill.

The drill will last between 10 to 15 minutes. Students will participate along with faculty, staff and administrators who will react according to our Emergency Preparedness Plan. The goal is for everyone to practice a simulated lockdown based on a nearby external threat in the community. Although proper procedures will be rehearsed and reinforced, it will be clear throughout the process that this is a drill.

Again, this is security training required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The safety of all children and staff is the district’s highest priority, and this drill is an important part of our mission. We will continue to issue reminders leading up to Wednesday. Please reach out with any questions you may have.
