Sto-Rox High School students interested in a career in the world of medicine have many options to choose from in the Health Care Occupations Technology program at Parkway West Career & Technology Center. This speciality will give students a variety of experiences to further their education as nurses, phlebotomists, or pharmacy technicians.
Students may work in child care, hospital-based settings, and long-term care facilities, along with pharmacies and lab testing centers. Certifications include CPR, Phlebotomy Technician, and patient care, giving students the proper practical knowledge to help people and possibly save their lives. Coursework covers everything from studying anatomy and physiology to the laws regarding drugs and controlled substances.
Health Care Occupations Technology is one of 16 areas of study at Parkway West CTC. The school started in the 1960’s and today, Sto-Rox is one of 12 school districts that sends students to this vocational training center.
