Amare Harper (55) runs to the field ahead of a Sto-Rox football game last Fall.

UPDATE, 11/29/23: We have learned more information from the Steelers about how Amare and the rest of the All-Peer Team will be recognized. A ceremony will take place before the Steelers game against the Bengals at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, December 23. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. and the All-Peer Team will get to enjoy a pre-game tailgate party at Stage AE. Congratulations again to Amare and the entire All-Peer Team!

ORIGINAL POST, 11/10/23: One of Sto-Rox’s best and brightest football players is being honored in a first-of-its-kind effort by the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Mentoring Partnership and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Amare Harper has been named to the inaugural Steelers All-Peer Team. This 11-member squad features players who, according to the Steelers, “go above and beyond to provide mentor-like support for their teammates.”

Harper and the other ten winners will each receive $1,000 for their school’s athletic program, an opportunity to take part in a virtual discussion with Steelers players, an opportunity to go on the field to celebrate with the Steelers at a home game later this season, and recognition on Steelers social media channels.

Congratulations to Amare and the other ten winners!
