A food drive organized by The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL), Pittsburgh City League and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank that supports local families in need has returned for its fourth year. The Food & Fund Drive is now underway and will run through Friday, December 6. In its first three years, this effort has raised more than 247,000 meals for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Schools who tally the most meals - the total of money donated and food collected - will be honored with a Community Champion banner either at the WPIAL Basketball Championships in March 2025 or by a food bank staff member at their school. Schools are divided by enrollment into six divisions, with Sto-Rox falling into the 3A Division. Sto-Rox’s goal is $1,000, while the overall goal for this drive is $50,000.
You can donate either money or food; financial donations should go to through the Sto-Rox donation page on the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank website. Every donation of $1 will provide three meals, so every little bit matters! Schools are encouraged to hold multiple food donation drives throughout the fall at schools, sporting events, and other functions.
