Several Sto-Rox High School students took a field trip to Operating Engineers Local 66 in New Alexandria recently. The field trip was sponsored by the CNX Foundation’s Mentorship Academy, which aims to help urban and rural youth from “economically disadvantaged” communities in greater Appalachia.
Tera Pennix, Verletha Kenney, Asheonna Fowler, and Zeni Freeman took part in the field trip, with Asheonna among those operating an excavator. We’re told she was a natural! We thank CNX and Local 66 for providing this rare experience for our students.
