UPDATE: McKees Rocks Bridge Work, Lane Closures Underway

UPDATE: You may have seen construction signs around town; work on this project is now scheduled to start Tuesday, September 6th.

Here’s a news release with information from PennDOT.

Construction on a key gateway to McKees Rocks will have an impact on Sto-Rox families starting this fall. The McKees Rocks Bridge Preservation Project will get underway Tuesday, September 6th with single-lane closures through early July of 2023. There will also be a closure of the spur from Route 65 South to the McKees Rocks Bridge on Wednesday and Thursday. Drivers should expect delays during peak travel times.

According to PennDOT, the project will feature several facets including: concrete repairs, sidewalk replacement, and fixing pavement on the approaches to the bridge. The project is estimated to wrap up by Fall of 2024. Any further closures of the bridge will be announced by PennDOT and/or the contractors and shared on the Sto-Rox School District website and social media channels.
