The Sto-Rox School Board of Directors’ newest member is ready to contribute after being sworn in on Monday. Angel Myers (Region 1, McKees Rocks) was sworn in by the Honorable Bruce J. Boni at his courtroom in McKees Rocks. It was a proud moment for Myers, who works at ConnectiveRx in Robinson Township and has four children in Sto-Rox schools - two at the Primary Center and two at the Jr./Sr. High School.
“Whether it is the Primary Center, the Upper Elementary (where her niece is a student), or the high school, it gives me a holistic view to truly provide some positive input,” said Myers. “This gives me a louder voice but also gives me a better opportunity to collaborate with the other directors.”

Myers is active in the community. She participates in the Sto-Rox PTO, is a coach for the 5/6-year-old Little Vikings Cheerleaders, and volunteers for Steel City Impact.
“Just anything that’s happening around the community, if they need the assistance, and I’m available, I like to join in,” she said."
Myers said taking on a school board role will help her make a larger impact. The instinct for service also runs in the family; two of her daughters are involved in school activities, including student government.
“I like to be the best version of myself, “said Myers, “because everybody else is taken.”
The next Sto-Rox School Board Meeting is the Agenda Review meeting at Meyers Ridge Community Center, 901 Gray St., McKees Rocks, PA 15136, on Thursday, October 17 at 7 p.m. Please join us!

• One Opening in Region 3 (At-Large)

All applicants must attend a school board meeting and participate in an interview process. Meetings are usually held in the cafeteria of the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School at the above address. Should someone file a petition with the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, the court must then hold a public hearing to consider the applicant(s) for the open seat(s) and make an appointment.
