The Sto-Rox Varsity Football Team nearly celebrated its first win of the season on Friday night when they faced Charleroi. The Vikings kept it close against the Cougars, with newly-crowned Homecoming King Shaiky Yates scoring on a touchdown run in the red zone in the third quarter. Sto-Rox trailed by 7-6 but could not produce any more points, while Charleroi scored 10 unanswered points to win 17-6.
The game was preceded by the annual Homecoming Parade, featuring the 2024 Homecoming Court. At halftime, Yates and Cianna Mason were crowned Homecoming King and Queen to the delight of the fans. The Vikings are on the road next week at Seton-LaSalle; their final home game of the season will be Friday, October 18 vs. South Allegheny, when Senior Night festivities will take place.
