Update: Sto-Rox, Child Advocacy Center to Present Internet Safety Information

UPDATE, 10/16/24: Tonight’s presentation at Meyers Ridge has been canceled. We will pass along information about a makeup date as it becomes available.

ORIGINAL POST, 10/2/24: Sto-Rox School District the Child Advocacy Center at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh are teaming up to present information to the community, including Sto-Rox parents and guardians, about Internet safety, cyberbullying, sexting, and related issues. Three presentations, all running from 6-8 p.m., are scheduled in the Sto-Rox community:

• Wednesday, October 9 at Focus on Renewal
• Wednesday, October 16 at Meyers Ridge
• Wednesday, October 23 at Pleasant Ridge

Senior Forensic Interviewers Rick DiBello and Cristina Indick will co-present material that will help parents protect their children from cyber bullying and other problematic social media issues. The district’s Parent/Community Liaison Ed Pierce and its Restorative Practice Coordinator from the University of Pittsburgh, Jennie Smith, are helping to organize these presentations, where DiBello and Indick will cover strategies intended to protect families from online predators, teach responsible behavior online, and promote healthy technology usage. DiBello and Indick regularly present this information to local communities, most recently to the Pittsburgh Public School Parent University. Please consider taking time out of one of your Wednesday evenings to join us for these valuable presentations.
