Sto-Rox Neighborhood Ready to Celebrate 'Be My Neighbor Day'

The greater Sto-Rox ‘neighborhood’ will celebrate Be My Neighbor Day on Saturday, March 22 with a slate of interactive and educational events.

Organized by WQED-TV Pittsburgh, Fred Rogers Productions and supported by PNC Grow Up Great, Be My Neighbor Day allows families the chance to take part in a free and fun celebration. Events will take place from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at two locations:

  • Focus on Renewal’s Father Ryan Arts Center - 420 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks, PA 15136

  • McKees Rocks Borough Council, 2nd Floor - 340 Bell Ave., McKees Rocks, PA 15136

Families will be able to meet Daniel Tiger - of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood - at the borough council building, while the Father Ryan Arts Center will feature:

• Cookie Decorating and Ice Cream with Cookie Cookie Ice Cream
• Subs and Giveaways from Mancini's Bakery and 5 Generations Bakers
• Water Bottles/Treat Boxes from Welcome to the Table/Tri-State Furniture
• Build Your City - Legos with MRCDC
• Kindness Rocks Painting with Pittsburgh Area Community Schools (PACS) & Sto-Rox School District
• History of McKees Rocks, Chocolate Rocks with McKees Rocks Historical Society
• Meet George Washington hosted by McKees Rocks Family Center
• Meet a Firefighter, Touch a Firetruck from the McKees Rocks Fire Station
• Face Painting with Focus on Renewal, Gemini Theatre
• Be My Neighbor Day Mural with FOR, Women's Alliance
• Line Dancing with FOR, Focus on Renewal
• Ceramics Station with Women's Alliance and Focus on Renewal

As noted above, Sto-Rox School District and PACS will provide a “Kindness Rocks” painting table at the Father Ryan Arts Center. We hope to see all of our Sto-Rox “neighbors” in the neighborhood!
