Students who spent the summer months focusing on finishing their high school education were honored Friday with a graduation ceremony at the Sto-Rox Junior/Senior High School Auditorium.
“We know that this was not easy,” said Principal Kim Price as she addressed the graduates. “You had to wake up and focus on work online when you could have been enjoying your summer. None of that was easy, but you did it.”
Dr. Price stressed the importance of learning, not only the subject matter in the classroom, but in their personal lives as well.
“You learned to speak up for yourself. You learned when to keep quiet,” said Dr. Price. “You learned when to ask questions and how to go find the answers for yourself.
Following Price’s address, Assistant Principal for Grades 10-12 Pam Clawson welcomed Tre’von Campbell, Aaron Marshall, and Precious Nichols to the stage to receive their diplomas and a handshake from Dr. Price, while acknowledging Matthew Fleagle, who could not attend the ceremony.
With the flip of a tassel, the students became newest graduates of Sto-Rox Sr. High School, receiving cheers and applause from family members who gathered to support them.
