Dear Sto-Rox Students and Families,
I want to welcome each student and family to the 2022-2023 school year. I hope everyone is enjoying the remaining days of summer. If you are new to our district, welcome to Viking Country! If you are a returning student and family, welcome back! We have amazing educational and extracurricular opportunities for every student at Sto-Rox! We will be eagerly welcoming students back for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 24th.

In addition, I am honored to be joining such a remarkable community. It is my goal to continue to find new ways to live our mission, educate our students in an environment that values the voice of ALL, and empowers our students to become expert learners. The reality is we are now preparing many of our students for jobs that have yet to be imagined!
To kick off the school year, we invite all students and families to our back-to-school event on August 20, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at the Jr/Sr. High School. The event will include games, activities, a football scrimmage, and information on school activities and events. We hope to see you there!
As we prepare to open our schools, it is impossible to ignore the national context and dialogue defined by recent school tragedies. Our number one priority is the safety of our students and staff. It has been a long-standing focus of the Sto-Rox School Board of Directors and Administration. We have made improvements this year that reflect this focus, including enhanced physical security and the hiring of additional security personnel.
Another top priority this school year is to communicate effectively on the journey each child is about to take in our district. We have updated our school district website to include a real-time calendar of events. We hope this will be an easy reference for the many important events going on in the district this school year. Each school now also has a Twitter account to highlight all the amazing learning in our buildings! Please join us on Twitter and Facebook. As we continue our journey of preparing students today for the challenges of tomorrow, I am looking forward to an incredible and rewarding year ahead.
