The Sto-Rox School District wants everyone, including parents and guardians to know where to turn if they have questions or concerns. The district believes in open and honest communication, especially with parents and guardians. To that end, we wanted to break down the proper flow of communication so that issues are resolved quickly and effectively. The steps are also outlined in a chart that you can download, and is pictured at right.
Teacher: Speak with your child’s teacher (or counselor) if you have an issue. Most of the time, issues are resolved at this level.
Assistant Principal: If an issue is not resolved at the teacher level, then please visit with the assistant principal in charge of your child’s grade level.
Principal: If an issue cannot be resolved with an assistant principal, then the principal is your next point of contact.
Superintendent: If an issue still cannot be resolved after the first three steps, then please contact the Superintendent’s office.
NOTE: If you or your child is experiencing an emergency, please call 9-1-1. If you have a non-emergency criminal concern, please reach out to local law enforcement.
At this point, if you have gone through all of these steps and feel your concerns have not been adequately addressed, then you have another venue to turn to: the Sto-Rox School Board. You may request to speak before the board at one of its meetings.
DOWNLOAD: Request To Speak Form
Public participation is allowed near the beginning and end of each meeting; such times are managed by the President of the Board. Please read the instructions on the form and fill out the required information. This form is due to the Board Secretary by 9:00 a.m. the day before a Board meeting.
A few things to keep in mind:
Speaking time is limited to three (3) minutes.
Participants must be residents/taxpayers of the district or anyone representing a group in the district/community.
If there is a group that wishes to speak, the group should appoint a spokesperson.
Address the Board President/presiding officer directly, not other board members.
Abusive, irrelevant, lengthy, obscene or personal comments will lead to the speaker’s time being interrupted or terminated.
These are just a few of the rules governing the public comment period at Sto-Rox School Board meetings. Please read the form for a complete accounting of these regulations.
