Free STEM Program One Of Several Summer Camp Options

Students who want to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) this summer have a new free option. Community College of Allegheny County is home to the Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers program. It runs from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays starting Monday, June 27th and ending Friday, July 22nd. Features include:

  • Hands-on Learning

  • 3-D Printing

  • Augmented Reality

  • Social Entrepreneurship

Steel City Impact’s summer program here in Sto-Rox is still accepting children entering grades five through nine. The program started June 13th and runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m. through July 22nd, so there is still time to sign up. Breakfast and lunch are provided, and students have an opportunity to earn field trips, not to mention taking part in mentorship, community service, and college visits. Next month, Gazette 2.0 and Point Park University will hold a media camp for teens! It's free and you can learn about the foundations of storytelling and journalism. It’s open to children ages 12 to 19, and runs from July 18th to July 22nd, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. each evening.
