Dear Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2023,
Graduation Day is fast approaching. Friday will be here before you know it! Commencement is the highlight of a student’s senior year and we want to make sure everyone who attends the ceremony has a great experience. Commencement will take place Friday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the football stadium at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School. In the event of bad weather, the district will decide whether or not to move commencement into the Jr./Sr. High School gym no later than 24 hours before the ceremony. If commencement is indoors, each student will receive four (4) tickets at graduation practice on Friday morning.
Security Information
The “Home” gate at Russellwood Ave. and Dale St. will NOT be open.
All family and friends must come in the “Visitors” gate located by the parking lot.
No bags will be allowed. Additionally, no balloons, noisemakers, umbrellas or lawn chairs will be allowed. District security staff will be screening all attendees.
No alcohol, tobacco or vaping products will be allowed.
No outside food or drink will be allowed inside the stadium EXCEPT unopened bottles of water due to expected high temperatures.
Only students and staff are allowed on the football field. This is in the best interest of everyone’s safety and to keep the field from being ruined.
Details for Graduates
Students must arrive by 6:15 p.m. If you are not on time, you will not walk in the graduation ceremony.
Students’ security screening will take place at the usual location along Valley Street. After screening, they will wait in the cafeteria.
The ceremony will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Again, if you are not on time, you will not walk in the ceremony.
No student may walk in the ceremony without completing all graduation requirements and fulfilling any outstanding debts (lunch, athletic, library, etc.).
Graduation Practice
Practice for commencement is set for Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. Attendance is mandatory.
Again, in the event of bad weather, each student will be given four (4) tickets for seating for commencement in the Jr./Sr. High School gym.
Livestream
There will be a livestream of the graduation ceremony provided by the district on social media.
That video feed will go live and be posted shortly before the ceremony starts.
We hope everyone who comes to commencement on Friday night has a wonderful time. Congratulations to our graduating class! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Megan Marie Van Fossan
Superintendent of Schools, Sto-Rox School District
