A video show-and-tell took place Thursday in Julie Himmelstein’s class at the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Library. Seventh graders showed off their video projects, which they worked on in conjunction with the Point Park University Center for Media Innovation, the Gazette 2.0, and several guest facilitators. These projects are now posted on the Sto-Rox School District’s YouTube Channel (see videos at right) for their classmates, families, and neighbors to see.
Over the course of the first semester, Point Park Project Manager Martha Rial worked with Himmelstein to lead the students as learned the specifics of shooting, writing, editing, and narrating. Their projects focused on interviews with three Sto-Rox figures: Teacher Kenneth Lex, Site Coordinator Brendan Blair, and School Director Adrienne Roberts. The students worked with facilitators including Rial, WPXI-TV photojournalist Georgiann Roman, photojournalist Curtis Reeves, current WTAE-TV anchor/reporter Andrew Stockey, and former KDKA-TV Reporter Harold Hayes.

The district would like to thank all of the facilitators who volunteered their time to help students develop their work. We look forward to continuing this partnership with Point Park University and the Gazette 2.0 into the next semester.
