Dear Sto-Rox Community,
We are aware of the violence that took place throughout our community the last two days. While this violence did not happen on school grounds, we did lock down the district following Tuesday’s incident. We communicated with police throughout the event, and will continue to work with local and regional law enforcement partners. We will also have an increased security and police presence at the Jr./Sr. High School for the immediate future.
We also want the community to know there are resources available in times like these. The district has an exceptional mental health team and professionals onsite to support our students and staff. Please reach out to our counseling staff at each school for information about accessing resources you need.
As we navigate this difficult time, the strength of our community lies not only in its numbers but also in the shared values that bind us. Together, we are a formidable force against the flowing tides of community violence, and we must stand united in our resolve to create safer spaces for everyone. This is a shared responsibility that goes beyond individual differences. Each of us plays a crucial role. This is not just a call to action; it is a rallying cry for unity, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to building a community free from the shackles of violence.
We can be a force to be reckoned with, challenging the status quo and fostering an environment where safety and well-being are non-negotiable priorities. We must let it be known that reducing community violence is not a mere aspiration– it is an imperative that requires the commitment and active participation of every single member.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Megan Marie Van Fossan, M.A. M.Ed.
Superintendent
