Due to a resignation, the Sto-Rox School District is accepting letters from persons interested in serving as a School Director for Region 1 (McKees Rocks) through the next General Election in November. Per Section 322 of the Public School Code, interested parties must be a citizen of the Commonwealth, be of good moral character, be 18 years or age or older and have been residing in McKees Rocks for at least one (1) year.
Please submit a letter expressing your interest in this appointment along with any additional information that applicants may desire to share with the Board of Directors in support of your candidacy. Letters of interest and supporting material should be sent to the Board Secretary, Susan Gratton, 1105 Valley Street, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. All materials must be received by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023. All applicants must attend the school board meeting on Thursday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. and participate in an interview process. The interview will be held in the cafeteria of the Sto-Rox High School at the above address.
Meanwhile, another school board seat in Region 2 (Stowe Township) remains open. The Sto-Rox School District encourages eligible candidates to come forward for both open seats on the nine-member body. The school board is currently able to interview and vote on applicants for the Region 2 post. However, should someone file a petition with the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, the court must then hold a public hearing to consider applicants and make an appointment.
