Sto-Rox School District joined students and educators from across the region on Tuesday during the Eradicate Hate Global Summit. The second annual conference included a viewing of the documentary “Repairing the World: Stories from the Tree of Life” and an opportunity to meet with survivors and family members of the 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue shooting.

This was Sto-Rox’s first year attending the summit, where 29 schools - more than double last year’s total of 14 - showed up. The Sto-Rox student group was led by teachers Paula Dugan and Shyanne Rippole. Those students are part of TRU, the Tobacco Resistance Unit, which aims to help teens stay tobacco-free; SADD, Students Against Drunk Driving, and SAVE.

Breakout sessions during the day allowed students to meet with those in other districts to develop ways to promote anti-hate and anti-violence initiatives in their own school communities. Sto-Rox students also learned about various resources available to them and their fellow students.
