Sto-Rox National Honor Society Inductees Honored

From L-R: Evelyn Nagel, Kamron Bey, Shea Kelley, Breona Griffin, Jaymes-Cameil Bulls and Josh Jenkins.

The 2023 inductees into the Sto-Rox National Honor Society were honored Wednesday night with a banquet at the Father Ryan Arts Center at Focus On Renewal. Kamron Bey, Jaymes-Cameil Bulls, Breona Griffin, and Shea Kelley were inducted.

“You should be very proud of yourselves,” said Nagel during her address to the inductees. “I'm sure that your family and friends are just as proud. Being here is a remarkable attainment. You will all go on to help make this world a better place. The four of you are all extremely capable of doing extraordinary things.”

In addition to the inductees and their families, several district staff members were in attendance including Guidance Counselor Joe Herzing and Superintendent Megan Van Fossan, who addressed the crowd following an introduction by Jenkins.

Sto-Rox’s four new inductees met requirements for induction across four areas: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Both Nagel and Jenkins broke down those pillars to the attendees, explaining the values that each new NHS member fulfilled.

2023 NHS Inductees

Kamron Bey: He’s planning on going to a four-year university and majoring in Cybersecurity or Computer Science. Kam's top colleges are Pitt, NYU, Penn State, and CMU. Kam knows it'll be a challenge to get accepted, but he will not give up. Kam is a football player, a natural leader, and last summer he took a public speaking class at Carlow University. He had to wake up at 6:00 a.m. each day and take four buses to get there.

Jaymes Camile: She’s planning on studying computer science at the university level, but still deciding where she wants to go. She would prefer to be an out-of-state student. In addition to taking rigorous coursework, Jaymes has been attending Breakthrough Pittsburgh, a summer program, since the sixth grade. The program helps prepare students for college, and provides many other opportunities.

Breona Griffin: Breona is looking to become a physician’s assistant, and is looking at PennWest University or UPMC to further her education. At a young age, she know she wanted to pursue a job in the field of medicine. Breona is inspired by her family, especially her mother, and she has worked on overcoming her social anxiety as she takes on new jobs and communicates with people.

Shea Kelly: She is also looking at a future in the field of medicine, either as an X-ray technician or a nurse. She is looking at West Penn nursing school and UPMC Mercy to further her education. Shea is also a Vikette cheerleader who has also danced and competed in gymnastics and softball. She has become a master at balancing schoolwork while still making time for her work, friends, and hobbies.
