Updated: District Statement on Social Media Issues

The Sto-Rox School District has an update regarding false allegations being made on social media about district personnel. Both the Allegheny County Police and the Stowe Township Police have investigated the allegations. Allegheny County Police informed the district that its investigation did not find evidence that would support a finding of child abuse, and they have declined to pursue any further investigation. The case has been closed.

In regards to the false and defamatory statements that continue to be made on social media, the district continues to pursue legal remedies, including a cease-and-desist letter. Again, we take any suggestion of wrongdoing seriously and follow district policies including investigation. However, the district will not stand repeated denigration of our staff and community in any forum.

For the broader Sto-Rox School District community, please understand that we are here for you. We want to hear your concerns and questions. Parents and guardians: if you have an issue to raise, please follow the Sto-Rox Chain of Command: Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Superintendent.

  1. Teacher: Speak with your child’s teacher (or counselor) if you have an issue. Most of the time, issues are resolved at this level.

  2. Assistant Principal: If an issue is not resolved at the teacher level, then please visit with the assistant principal in charge of your child’s grade level.

  3. Principal: If an issue cannot be resolved with an assistant principal, then the principal is your next point of contact.

  4. Superintendent: If an issue still cannot be resolved after the first three steps, then please contact the Superintendent’s office.

For community members, please reach out to the appropriate school and/or staff member. At this point, if you have gone through all of these steps and feel your concerns have not been adequately addressed, then you have another venue to turn to: the Sto-Rox School Board. You may request to speak before the board at one of its meetings. Public participation is allowed near the beginning and end of each meeting; such times are managed by the President of the Board. Please read the instructions on the form (linked below) and fill out the required information. This form is due to the Board Secretary by 9:00 a.m. the day before a Board meeting.
