Sto-Rox Students Attend Woodland Hills College & Career Fair

NOTE: Woodland Hills Communications Specialist Andrew Chiappazzi contributed information to this article. We thank him, and Woodland Hills School District for hosting this event.

Students from Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School hit the road on Thursday for a trip to Woodland Hills School District to seek out their futures. Joe Herzing, School Counselor for Grades 10-12, led the Viking contingent to Woodland Hills High School in Churchill for a College and Career Fair. It wasn’t just Sto-Rox - students from Woodland Hills, East Allegheny, and Steel Valley also dropped by to check out the education and career opportunities on display.

The event was made possible thanks to DoD STEM, which offers the SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program. The program offers full tuition scholarships and a monthly stipend to students pursuing eligible STEM degrees at accredited universities. Those students are guaranteed employment with the Department of Defense as a civilian employee for four years after graduation. Along with the DoD STEM program, there were representatives from nearly 50 universities, trade schools, armed services, and employers in attendance.

For more information on college and career preparation, check out the School Counseling pages on the district and Jr./Sr. High School websites.
