Rippole poses with her award at The University Club in Oakland.

Congratulations are in order for Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School English Language Arts teacher Shyanne Rippole! On Thursday, in a ceremony at The University Club in Oakland, she won the High School Teacher of the Year award from The Education Partnership. In just two years as an educator, Shyanne has shown great promise and dedication. Last year, she was nominated for The Education Partnership’s Rookie Teacher of the Year award.

“This is only my second year teaching, and I do it from the heart,” Rippole said after winning this year’s award. “I love my kids, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.”

Rippole also praised The Education Partnership, an organization that works with the district to provide school supplies to our students.

“Thank you to The Ed Partnership. I have so many things in my classroom because of you and everything you provide.”

Rippole was nominated for her “positivity, honesty, credibility, professionalism and sense of humor,” and was recognized for her work both inside the classroom and outside of it as a tutor for Steel City Impact. On the nomination submission, it was said that Rippole has “created a learning environment that matches her belief in the power of positive energy and its role in students finding their way in school.”

Rippole was nominated along with Alice Lee from Propel Charter Schools and Major Christopher James Augustine from Pittsburgh Perry High School (Pittsburgh Public Schools).
