Winter Alumni Night, Sto-Rox Boys Basketball vs. Washington

Sto-Rox School District celebrated its alumni with a special gathering ahead of the Sto-Rox Boys Varsity Basketball game vs. Washington on Friday, January 31. The Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria hosted more than two dozen alumni who mingled with Sto-Rox staff, including Athletic Director Shomari Phelps and School Board President Cameron Culliver.

Alumni were also recognized just before the Vikings took on the Prexies in the Jr./Sr. High School gym. Among the distinguished alumni were Junior Price, a member of the 32-0 PIAA Championship team from 1983, and Downtown Myron Brown, a Sto-Rox basketball star who went on to Slippery Rock University and the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.

Meanwhile, the Vikings jumped out to an early lead against the Prexies, but the away team came roaring back and held off a late, gutsy charge from Sto-Rox to win by a score of 43-41. Sto-Rox wraps up its home season next Friday, February 7 with Senior Night Festivities against Bishop Canevin.

The district would like to thank all of the alumni who showed up for Friday night’s game and festivities. Together, we are Viking Strong!
