Sto-Rox Upper Elementary recognized the halfway point of the 2024-2025 school year on Friday, January 31 by celebrating learning, and the accomplishments of each of their grade levels. Similar to year-end events held for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, teachers handed out awards to students for excellence in academics, attendance, and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) improvement.
Each grade level had its own ceremony, with parents and families in attendance. Teachers and administrators went over attendance - SRUE is very close (88.5%) to the district’s goal of 90% attendance. Staff stressed the importance of attendance leading to better grades, higher graduation rates, and more opportunities for students to socialize and make friends - something they can’t do in an online classroom setting.

Teachers and staff also reviewed positive behavior data, noting that referrals for incidents involving students have fallen dramatically year-to-year, over the first few months of the school year. The Kindness Club, LIT Leaders, mentorship opportunities and therapeutic services for students were also discussed before awards were handed out.
