Food was dished out and dozens of Sto-Rox families were served Wednesday night at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria. The district held a ‘Community Dinner’ Title I event to bring together students, their families and neighbors with food, educational activities and participation from community partners.

If you climb the stairs to the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Chorus room on a given day during the fall semester, you won’t hear printing. Instead, you’ll hear the nearly imperceptible thrum made by one of several 3D printers along the far wall.

Sto-Rox students in grades K-6 will be able to have their school pictures taken in a few short weeks. Picture Days will be held in early November; the Upper Elementary will have pictures taken on Tuesday, November 7 starting at 8:45 a.m; the Primary Center will have pictures taken on Thursday, November 9 starting at 8:45 a.m.

The Sto-Rox School District is encouraging people from across our community to join us at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria on Wednesday, November 15 from 5-7 p.m. The district and Communities in Schools Pittsburgh-Allegheny County will help provide dinner - free - to district families.

Sto-Rox School District was held up as an example of fighting food insecurity on the latest edition of WTAE Listens. The episode aired Sunday morning and featured Superintendent Megan Van Fossan and the district’s Restorative Practice Coordinator Jennie Smith, from the Just Discipline Project at the University of Pittsburgh.

Success in the game of life depends a great deal on financial know-how. This November, Sto-Rox students can take part in a new competition open to all WPIAL school districts: The Financial Trivia Challenge, sponsored by First National Bank. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will come to Sto-Rox in November to provide two days of free medical services. The vehicle will park at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School on Wednesday, November 29 and Thursday, November 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. Click through for registration details!

The Sto-Rox School Board held its final meeting of October last Thursday evening. It featured several athletic-related topics including a new leader of the Sto-Rox Athletic Department. Treats were shared and lessons were learned Friday evening before the Senior Night Sto-Rox football game. ‘Trig & Treat,’ a Title I Event at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School, was held with lots of educational activities, games, treats (including hot chocolate!), pumpkin painting, special effects makeup and so much more!
