School Board Vacancy: Will You Answer The Call?

Sto-Rox School District continues to have a vacant seat on the nine-member school board and is looking for someone to fill the role. The seat, which represents Region 2 (Stowe Township), was vacated in December when longtime school director Ken Hohman resigned. The person who fills this vacancy will serve through the next General Election, which will take place this November. All applicants must be available to attend and participate in an interview process at a public meeting of the board. The interview will be held in the cafeteria of the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School.

If you are interested in this appointment, please submit a letter of interest along with any additional information in support of your candidacy. Letters of interest and supporting material should be sent to the Board Secretary, Susan Gratton, 1105 Valley Street, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. Applicants may also apply by email to sgratton@srsd.k12.pa.us. Please call Mrs. Gratton at 412-771-3213 x5236 to confirm receipt of letter of interest.

The school board is currently able to interview and vote on applicants for this post. However, should someone file a petition with the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, the court must then hold a public hearing to consider applicants and make an appointment. This was the case in July, when there was another vacant seat on the board. We look forward to hearing from community members who wish to serve the Sto-Rox School District community.
